I drink alone

everyone always says you'll find it when you're not looking.
everyone says you can't find it if you sit there and wait for it.

so, what to do?

with the loss of the bet, I had to do it. and I did. but as my friend who made the bet with me insisted, just putting info up and paying doesn't mean I fulfilled the bet.

it's true. I met one great guy. but, after he abruptly did the disappearing act, it made me question the process. it made me question the sincerity of all guys.

I know they're not all the same. there are some sincere ones. I'm friends with many of them. the sincere ones just never seem to be interested in more than friendship with me.

so to truly get her off my back for fulfillment of a nearly year-old bet, I stepped it up a notch. I have dates set up. my attitude isn't the best about the whole thing, but I'm working on that. and at the very worst I get to drink a few nights this week, and not alone.

Oh good luck. You never know, you might meet someone great. It COULD happen. At least you are giving it a chance, if only for the sake of the bet.

pay very close attention to their ads. you can spot MANY red flags before you'd even consider an email.

which you shouldn't if you see ANY red flags.

and then have zero expectations. ZERO. i, personally, think it's fun. you get to blog about each date too! so WE get to have fun "with" you. (don't tell them about your blog though...: )

You have a far better attitude about it than I do. I just refuse to do it anymore. Refuse. I am not a happy girl when I am playing the dating game, so I quit. I'm just who I am. If he wants to meet me, he can find me. If not, I'm really okay with that.

Good luck! Most importantly, have fun. If it isn't fun, it isn't worth doing!! (see above paragraph!! lol)

half the battle is putting yourself out there. That's the toughest thing...and you've already done it. So what if you get a few free drinks, you might meet someone cool in the process...

OH MY GOD...you caved...it took you long enough. I myself am holding off a little longer to get back on that wagon. But I know how frustrating it is, so if you EVER need to vent. The random disappearing acts...I had those mastered, for some reason EVERY single guy did that to me, especially the ones I actually had a good date with. Weird. I thought it was a cultural thing, or a location thing...turns out...it's just a guy thing. That sucks. Hang in there....I feel your pain. And I am IMMENSELY proud of you.
